The Food Truck Menu is smaller then Restaurant Menu. We focus on our fried chicken and french fries, from a takeaway perspective.

Concept and Story

At Galinha do Diniz, we specialize in making what is probably the best fried chicken in the Azores and beyond. You can enjoy it in two ways: visit our food trucks at various parties and events, or dine at our restaurant in the beautiful village of Cinco Ribeiras.
José Diniz Moules Ferreira, better known as Diniz, is the man who founded Galinha do Diniz. He began with a small restaurant offering drinks and snacks, but in 2008, he realized it was time to take things further. With the mindset that “if customers don’t come to me, I’ll go to where they are”, he created a food truck and started attending every bullfight on Terceira Island (if you want to see large crowds, go to a bullfight). The fried chicken was—and still is—the food truck’s specialty, and it quickly became a hit at every stop.

When embarking on this adventure, Diniz experienced firsthand what it means to start from scratch again. But as he says, “Every creature is ugly at birth.”. Even so, he didn’t give up and gradually watched his business grow. Having a fried chicken food truck was an unusual concept, but that became his greatest advantage—offering a unique and special chicken. With dedication, he went from frying chicken in a simple pan to using industrial fryers, eventually expanding to a second food truck. Today, everyone in Terceira knows the famous “Tasca do Diniz,” affectionately called “Tasca da Galinha” or simply “Galinha do Diniz”

Diniz has always been a businessman at heart. He realized that while many customers enjoyed eating at the food truck, others preferred to take their meals home. This insight led him to create a Take-Away Food Truck. Together with his two sons, Diniz invested in a new, larger truck designed for this purpose. The original truck continued to serve events and bullfights, while the new one was stationed at strategic locations to take orders, prepare meals, and deliver freshly fried chicken to customers. A simple yet effective model.

In 2023, the newest Galinha do Diniz restaurant was born in a small but charming location. It marked a significant transformation of the old space, now a warm and inviting two-story venue accommodating around 90 guests. And guess what the star of the menu is? That’s right—Fried Chicken! But there’s more! Our restaurant offers a variety of crispy chicken combinations to satisfy every craving. Not a fan of chicken? No problem! We also have delicious chicken-free dishes to cater to all tastes.
